Official Dolphin Club poster for the 100th anniversary of the Golden Gate swim. This poster was reworked from the original 2012 design. The central character depicted Joe Bruno for whom the swim was named, and the pose was inspired by a panel from a 1970s SubMariner comic book drawn by Gene Colan and inked by Vince Colleta. The background scene illustrates the rough waters typical of the bridge and the foreground boat crashing into Lime Rock was taken from my own experience a year earlier when a rogue wave thrown by a passing tanker (thought clear of the "No Wake" zone) caused some chaos near the finish line. The Dolphin Swimming & Boating Club, in San Francisco since 1877.
